Jonas Ruškus: Inclusion

The ISP was honoured to welcome Prof. Jonas Ruškus to share his expertise with the students and staff. 

Professor Jonas Ruškus is a nationally and internationally recognized expert in the area of disability. His studies in special education for children having intellectual disability in Lithuania, Jonas Ruškus has gained significant experience of voluntary and professional work with disables people in the international l’Arche community in France. The experience of community-based living and inclusion of people with disability into community settings influenced his decision to devote his professional career for the implementation of human rights and social justice dealing with disability issues on the individual, organizational and social policy levels.  Professor Ruškus is a member of the Committee on the Rights of Person with Disabilities of United Nations (2015 – Present)

Professor Jonas Ruškus is based at Vytautas Magus University, Kaunas, Lithuania, where he is Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and  Professor at Dept. of Social Work.

The students from each country prepared a short presentation to introduce the education system in their own country and aspects of inclusive practice to other students.

ISP Workshops

The teachers from each country delivered workshops throughout the programme. Each workshop was related to one of the ‘Keys’ of inclusion. You can find out more about the development of their Keys from the home page.
